The Westin Hotel: HafenCity & neighborhood
Explore the historic roots of the Hanseatic City – all just a few minutes’ walk from the Westin Hotel Hamburg. Stroll through the HafenCity with its innovative construction concepts that create a futuristic contrast to the neo-gothic buildings, and treat yourself to a break at the picturesque Feldschlösschen on the Holländischbrookfleet canal. In the café, you can plan your leisure activities, such as a visit to the International Maritime Museum. Here you will find three thousand years of shipping history in nine exhibition halls. You're sure to feel like a real captain when you turn the steering wheel of the shipping simulator. Together with the historic brick houses of the Speicherstadt ('City of Warehouses') and the Chilehaus, the Kontorhaus district was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. The towering Elbphilharmonie, too, is built on historical foundations. The Kaispeicher used to serve as a shop floor – today it is the basis for modern and innovative architecture.
